About the Artist — Dami Laylo

Dami Laylo, born Damilola Olamilekan Osho, is a Nigerian Afrobeat artist emerging from Surulere, Lagos—a district widely known for its deep musical heritage and influence on modern Nigerian music.

Known for his smooth vocal delivery and melodic Afrobeat style, Laylo represents a new generation of artists blending contemporary Afrobeats with strong rhythmic and cultural influences from Lagos.

Working closely with TryTaped Recordings, Laylo’s music is developed through a collaborative production process that focuses on high-quality sound design, professional songwriting, and modern Afrobeat arrangements.

His single “Lay Lo” marks one of the early releases from the collaboration, introducing his sound through the production direction of Chizi Natha-Amadi, Creative Director at TryTaped Recordings.

The Story —

In Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria, music producer Urktave discovered Damilola Olamilekan Osho, professionally known as Dami Laylo, during the early stages of his artistic journey. During a visit to Urktave’s studio in Surulere, Laylo was introduced to Afroyana, who would later become a key figure in his career.

A few years later, Laylo approached Afroyana to manage him. She accepted and became his manager, eventually securing a collaboration with TryTaped Recordings Limited, where she serves as CEO.

At the time, TryTaped Recordings was preparing to launch its music production initiative as part of a broader campaign to showcase the company’s high-end production quality. The project required an artist who could bring the music to life vocally while the company handled the full production process—from music production and post-production to music video development and publishing.

“Lay Lo” is one of the records produced and published through this collaboration.

The track was composed by Chizi Natha-Amadi, Creative Director at TryTaped Recordings, and represents part of the company’s effort to demonstrate its professional music production capabilities through real commercial releases.
